Contains: Dasyaceae, Delesseriaceae, Sarcomeniaceae, Rhodomelaceae, Ceramium, Callithamnion, Ptilota, Griffithsia, Antithamnion.

The Ceramiales are an order of red algae exhibiting uniaxial growth, bipolar spore germination and triphasic life histories with the auxiliary cell usually cut off from the supporting cell of the carpogonial branch after fertilisation (Choi et al. 2002).
