Cladophoraceae

Cladophora rupestris, copyright Malcolm Storey.

Belongs within: Tetraphytae.

The Cladophoraceae are filamentous green algae with multinucleate cells (Norris 2010).

Characters (from Norris 2010): Algae filamentous, uniseriate, branched or unbranched, varying in color from light to dark green. Cells multinucleate, with parietal chloroplasts containing few to many pyrenoids. Asexual reproduction often by fragmentation. Sexual reproduction, where known, isogamous.
