Deshayesitidae

Belongs within: Ancyloceratidae.

The Deshayesitidae are a Lower Cretaceous group of more or less compressed, strongly ribbed ammonites (Wright et al. 1996).

Characters (from Wright et al. 1996): Typically compressed; ribs strong, branching or long and short, crossing rounded venter or, in later forms with flat venter, may be interrupted; tubercles occasionally present. Suture with first subdivision of umbilical lobe remaining next to saddle U/L, giving formula I U2 U3 U1 L E.
