Diparidae

 Lelaps striatus, from here.

Belongs within: Chalcidoidea.
Contains: Dipara, Lelaps.

The Diparidae are a group of chalcidoid wasps found primarily in leaf litter. Many species are strongly sexually dimorphic: males are usually macropterous, but females may be brachypterous or apterous (Desjardins 2007).

Characters (from Bouček 1988, Desjardins 2007, as Diparinae): Antenna 13-segmented. Scutellum varied, but never smooth and convex. Metacoxa inserted unusually high, usually with transverse striations on posterior margin. Gastral tergite 1 usually expanded to cover at least half of metasoma. Cercal brush present. Females often apterous or brachypterous.
