The Euglenida are a clade of unicellular eukaryotes bearing a pellicle of proteinaceous strips (Adl et al. 2012).

Characters (from Adl et al. 2012): Pellicle of proteinaceous strips, fused in some taxa; when unfused, strips capable of active distortion (metaboly); carbohydrate store (where known) paramylon.
