Eurhynchus scabrior, copyright Harvey Perkins.

Belongs within: Brentidae.

The Eurhynchinae are an Australasian group of weevils with poorly known biology (Zimmerman 1994).

Characters (from Zimmerman 1994): Antenna with loose club. Rostrum with narrow, shallow sulcus extending along junction between lateral and ventral surfaces of each side of rostrum from beneath anterior corner of eye to below antennal insertion. Mandibles strongly three-toothed. Labial palpi reduced, two-segmented, mostly concealed in sockets on sides of dorsal surface of labium. Maxillary palpi three-segmented. Gular suture single, extending from base to point beneath anterior ocular margin. Scutellum exposed. Prosternum short. Procoxal cavities confluent. Procoxae elongate, subconical, strongly exserted, proclinate armed with on anterior ventrolateral margins with prominent dentiform process. Prosternellum vertical, conspicuous. Notosternal suture strongly formed, extending “closed” vertically from coxa, thence turning at right angle and continuing to subapical constriction of prothorax. Mesocoxae reclinate, narrowly separated, only slightly protuberant. Elytron with internal subcostal plica well developed, its apical part curved towards suture well cephalad of elytral apex. Dorsal base of femur extending over trochanter to reach coxa. Apices of tibiae armed with movable spurs, formula 1-2-2; apex of protibia forming conspicuous, concave antennal cleaner. Abdominal tergites pigmented. Suture between first and second abdominal ventrites complete, deeply and coarsely impressed. Membrane surrounding ovipositor with long sclerotised bar on each side.
