Haptista

Colony of Phaeocystis, copyright Peter Countway.

Belongs within: Diaphoretickes.
Contains: Coccolithophyceae.

The Haptophyta are a group of aquatic flagellates, many of which are photosynthetic. Most members of this group have a covering of scales that may or may not be mineralised.
