Contains: Healdiidae, Thlipsuridae.

The Metacopina are a group of ostracods in which the carapace valves ancestrally bear muscle scars arranged as a circular aggregate of many scars (Benson et al. 1961).

Characters (from Benson et al. 1961): Hinge distinct, simple to tripartite; muscle scar consisting of secondary scars assembled in a compact group; inner lamella narrow, poorly developed or unknown.
