Otocepheus (Acrotocepheus)

The subgenus Acrotocepheus of the genus Otocepheus is a primarily southeast and southern Asian group of otocepheid oribatid mites characterised by the presence of median condyles on the prodorsum.

Characters (from Balogh & Balogh 1992): Median prodorsal condyles present. Notogaster with ten pairs of setae; lateral notogastral condyles narrowly spaced. Epimeral seta formula 3-1-3-3; apodemata I absent; pedotecta 2+3 conspicuously developed, axe-shaped in ventral view and tailfin-shaped in dorsal view, anterior and posterior expansions nearly equal in size. Four pairs of genital setae; one pair of aggenital setae. two pairs of anal setae; three pairs of adanal setae; fissura iad adanal.
