Sertularia is a genus of colonial hydroids in which the hydrothecal operculum is divided with the abcauline component being movable (Ralph 1961).

Characters (from Ralph 1961): Erect stems branched or simple, monosiphonic; hydrothecae in opposite or subopposite pairs or alternate; margin usually with two abcauline teeth between each of which there is a distinct sinus; occasionally a small median tooth dividing adcauline sinus; operculum with adcauline and abcauline component, of which the latter is moveable; hydranth with abcauline caecum.
