Sorocostia

Sorocostia is a genus of small, inconspicuous moths bearing strong tufts of setae on the fore wings near the costa (Meyrick 1886).

Characters (from Meyrick 1886): Face with projecting scales; tongue well-developed. Antennae in male filiform, rather strongly ciliated (1.5–2), basal joint somewhat tufted. Palpi from moderate to very long, straight, porrected, densely rough-haired above and beneath. Middle and posterior tibiae clothed with long fine loose hairs above, in female less strongly. Fore wings with tufts of scales on surface; 2 from beyond middle, 7 and 8 out of 9, 10 absent. Hind wings with veins 2, 3, and 5 parallel, 4 absent, 6 and 7 stalked or rarely from a point, 8 from middle.
