Tetragnatha

Tetragnatha pinicola, from here.

Belongs within: Tetragnathidae.

Tetragnatha, the long-jawed orb-weavers, is a cosmopolitan genus of spiders with an elongate body form and often metallic-coloured abdomen. The chelicerae are often large and project forward horizontally. Members of the genus include the widespread T. extensa, found across much of the Holarctic region. Tetragnatha nitens, a native of Asia, has become introduced to warmer regions throughout the Old and New Worlds.
